Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service
January 17, 2005
Service for Peace has participated in the revitalization of Roosevelt High School in NW Washington DC organized by Serve DC and the DC Youth Advisory Council. Our small group of volunteers joined with 750 others to clean, organize and paint within the school and around it.
1. Roosevelt High School Club
Students from Roosevelt High School's You Choose club engage in service every other Wednesday as part of their positive choices program. They regularly tutored children in 2004 and they will be expanding with other project in 2005.
2. New Hope Academy Club
Students from New Hope Academy mentor children at the Brookland Manor Boys and Girls Club every Thursday. They play with them, help with their homework, engage them in different arts and crafts activities while forming deep bonds of friendship.
