Read our 2006 Global Youth Service Day report

Overview

National and Global Youth Service Day is the largest service event in the world, engaging millions of young people, drawing together a remarkable consortium of local, regional, and national partners, while supporting youth on a life-long path of service and civic engagement. The goals of National Youth Service Day are:

  • To MOBILIZE youth to identify and address the needs of their communities through meaningful service
  • To SUPPORT youth on a life-long path of service and civic engagement.
  • To EDUCATE the public, the media, and policymakers about the year-round contributions of young people as community leaders.

National Youth Service Day projects address important social needs (relief for tsunami victims, underserved youth, the environment, the elderly, etc.) and it is a natural time to celebrate year-round successes, recognize excellence, and kick off new efforts.
