Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service 2007 coming up

Service For Peace is pleased to announce a Request For Proposals (RFP) for the 2007 Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service.

We will be offering grants ranging from $1,000 to $10,000 to our chapters and out-of-network partners, made possible through the generous support of the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS). Grants will be awarded in the following amounts $1,000, $2,500, $5,000 and $10,000 amounts.

The SUBMITTAL DEADLINE 5PM EST, OCT 19, 2006

The goal of the MLK Day of Service Grants is to honor the memory of Dr. King through service by making the national holiday a DAY ON rather than a DAY OFF. Sub-grantees will build projects that are dynamic and relevant by combining meaningful service, thoughtful reflection, inclusion of a diverse cross section of the community as volunteers, education on the life and work of Dr. King, and provide volunteers with opportunities for sustained service and ongoing community involvement.
