Each Year on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, we ask ourselves how much of the dream has yet to be realized and then look to see what Martin would be doing in our communities if he was with us today. This year, as a signature project for the MLK Day of Service, Service For Peace (SFP) proposed a 2-year project to create 100 DreamCatcher Libraries around the world to provide youth in our most vulnerable communities with the knowledge they need to transform their communities.

With the $1 million dollar grant, our goal was to support our international chapters to immediately expand their activities. Working with international volunteers and the local community, Service For Peace would create 100 school-based libraries in communities in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Each library would be equipped to provide in words, pictures, and DVDs and will focus on health, agriculture, nutrition, hygiene, sanitation and water supply.
